Sem Mim Nada Podeis Fazer | Salmos 79–80 e João 15 — DIA 255

In today's Bible study, in Psalms 79 and 80, we find a people surrounded by destruction, shame, and suffering, crying out for God to intervene and restore what has been devastated. Psalm 79 describes the consequences of the invasion, the desecration, and the pain of those who see everything around them in ruins: “Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name’s sake.” Psalm 79:9 The cry is not just for relief. It is a plea for forgiveness, deliverance, and restoration. The people recognize that they need God's intervention and do not possess enough strength to rebuild what has been destroyed on their own. In Psalm 80, the cry is repeated: “Restore us, O God; let your face shine on us, that we may be saved.” Psalm 80:3 Restoration begins when God's face becomes the center again. The psalm also presents Israel as a vine planted by the Lord himself: “You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it.” Psalm 80:8 This vine grew, occupied space, and was sustained by God. Later, however, its fences were torn down, and it was exposed to destruction. This image connects directly with Jesus' words in John 15: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 The root of the Christian life is remaining in Christ. There is no true fruit without communion. There is no spiritual strength independent of the presence of Jesus. There is no complete restoration while we try to live separated from the Vine. The problem is not just the lack of results. The problem is trying to produce life outside the source. Jesus also declared: “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:15 Christ did not call us to a distant, mechanical relationship or one based solely on religious obligations. He called us to abide. He called us to intimacy. He called us friends because He revealed what He received from the Father. The Christian life is not a sequence of tasks performed for God. It is a life of communion with Christ, dependence, obedience, and relationship. Psalms 79–80 and John 15 teach us: • destruction must lead us to repentance, not to estrangement • only God can restore what has been deeply wounded • the unprotected vine is exposed and vulnerable • separated from Christ, we do not produce true fruit • abiding in Jesus is a necessity, not an option • God does not desire only service; He calls us to intimacy • Restoration begins when God returns to the center • Fruit is a consequence of a life connected to the source Today's study question is direct: Are you truly abiding in Christ or just trying to produce results using your own strength? Without Jesus, we can do nothing. With Him, life flows again, fruit reappears, and what was destroyed can be restored. 📖 House of the Word 🔥 Seek • Live • Teach 🔔 Subscribe to the channel and follow our daily Bible study, chapter by chapter.
