Understanding Mid Air Collisions and Working of TCAS (Traffic Alert & Collision Avoidance System)
Here we look at the meaning of Mid Air Collisions; The Reasons for mid air collision are discussed along with the Consequences of mid air collisions. Then we look at how modern airplanes avoid mid air collisions with the help of TCAS or Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System. We look at the working principle of the TCAS along with the indications given in the cockpit depending on how far or how close the other Aircraft is. We also see the Aural and Visual Indications that a pilot receives for a Traffic Alert and Resolution Advisory. How a pilot is supposed to respond for a RA is also seen here. Hope you enjoy.
