H-4 Hercules - чистые амбиции
The Hughes H-4 Hercules is a heavy military transport aircraft and flying boat developed by Hughes Aircraft Company in the mid-1940s. The H-4 is one of the largest aircraft ever built, rivaling even today's large airliners and transport aircraft in size. In its day, the H-4 was an immeasurable giant, making it a celebrity even at the design stage and the brainchild of Howard Hughes. Yet, despite its size and capabilities, the Hercules never reached operational use, spending less than a minute in its only flight. In this story, we'll get to know this giant, follow its winding and scandalous journey, and discover why the Hercules is better known not by its official name, but by its nickname, the Spruce Goose.
