Fr. Dermot S. Roache - Medjugorje Vocation

In 1996, while the scars of the recent war were still very vivid, Fr. Dermot S. Roache came to Medjugorje for the first time. He came on his own, carrying a heavy burden on his heart - his brother’s heroin addiction and his father’s illness. On a hot summer evening, while praying the rosary in the shade of a tree near the church of St. James Church in Medjugorje, Fr. Dermot had a powerful experience that would change his life forever. During the time of the apparition, he got, what his confessor would later describe as, “a taste of what it means to be unconditionally loved.” What started as a young man’s pilgrimage for healing and strength turned into a journey towards priesthood. Upon returning home Fr. Dermot began discerning his vocation to a religious life. Fr Dermot S.
