The 1V normalized routing inputs on ROUTE 4 make a lot of sense when you start using ROUTE 4 to change up an existing sequence, by either precision mixing the 1V/oct pitch cv with ROUTE 4s output or by using an additional V/oct input on your vcos (luckily GENERATE 3 Exp. FM inputs are nearly perfectly calibrated to accept V/oct signals). Using ORBIT 3 as a master control for all the switching on ROUTE 4 makes for a chaotic but controlled course of pitches.
