JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Nanik S. Deyang, announced that the government has begun exploring various funding alternatives for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, particularly in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions. In its explanation, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) stated that the scheme, which previously relied entirely on the State Budget (APBN), will now be evaluated to avoid placing a significant burden on state finances. In addition to the APBN, several other funding sources are said to be available, including state-owned enterprise (SOE) CSR programs, private investment, and grants from other countries and foundations willing to support the construction of supporting facilities for the MBG program. Even for regions with a relatively small number of recipients, the government believes there is no need to build new kitchens and can utilize existing facilities. On the other hand, the changes in BGN ranks have also raised questions regarding oversight and the prevention of budget leakage. The public is now awaiting concrete steps from the government to tighten governance of the MBG program and ensure that the target of 82.9 million beneficiaries remains as planned.
