How to stop hyperawareness, and visual snow obsession
Sensorimotor OCD: people begin to selectively attend to bodily functions such as DPDR, visual disturbances, or perhaps breathing, for example, and become anxious that they will become unable to stop thinking about these things. Attempts to distract themselves fail, leading to higher levels of anxiety! This anxiety perpetuates the focus on the sensation, leaving them preoccupied and frustrated by their unsuccessful attempts to shift attention elsewhere. Furthermore, increased attention actually intensifies the sensation - visual disturbances will feel more prominent, and breathing may become even more difficult! Here is how to overcome this vicious cycle. ❤️ Other questions you may be asking are: How to reduce visual snow?
