Three armed men broke into a family's home in Atibaia, in the interior of São Paulo state. The husband was arriving home when he was subdued in the garage and engaged in a physical struggle with the criminals. During the confrontation, he was shot in the head, received medical attention, and survived without risk of death. Upon realizing the break-in, the wife grabbed a gun from inside the house and shot one of the assailants, who died at the scene. The other suspects fled by jumping over the wall.
