Caso Vitória: Perito denuncia fraude em exame que levou suspeito de matar jovem à prisão

The case of the death of teenager Vitória Regina de Sousa, which occurred over a year ago in Cajamar, Greater São Paulo, may take a turn. Forensic expert Renato Domingos Pattoli denounced alleged fraud in the forensic examinations that resulted in the arrest of the only suspect in the crime, Maicol Antonio Sales dos Santos. The first analysis, conducted with luminol at the suspect's house, found no traces of human blood; however, another team assigned later found such evidence. Furthermore, there was disagreement between Pattoli and other members regarding the inappropriate use of dogs during the initial investigations due to the potential risk to the integrity of the evidence. The expert's denunciations could alter the course of the investigations and call into question the validity of the evidence used against Maicol. The lawyer legally authorized to speak on behalf of Patolli emphasizes that he has faced internal persecution within the Scientific Police since his public revelations about possible procedural irregularities. The Civil Police's Internal Affairs Department has opened an internal investigation to investigate the facts he reported.
