Bonnie and Clyde historically start their courting season many months out from nesting season. Egg laying is the beginning of February for this pair (exact dates in history below). This video is a compilation of footage from 1-1, 1-3, 1-6, and 1-7-25. Video opens with a New Year's Day visit from Bonnie & Clyde. The next segment is from 1-3, and is the first cam view mating we have for the new season. The third segment is from 1-6/1-7, and is the first time Bonnie & Clyde are seen following the 1-5 blizzard. Bonnie laid the first egg that evening, and the date the second egg was laid is unknown. Tiger: hatched 3-7-21 (1st feeding); 3-8-21 (1st observation) Lily: hatched 3-9-21 (1st observation) Fledge dates - Tiger 4-29-21 @ 53 days old; Lily 5-4-21 @ 56 days old The last date I heard the juvenile(s): 10-16-21. 2022 Season - Bonnie and Clyde were still in the area, first seen on the cam 8-30-21, when one of the owls visited the nest tree. They consistently visited and guarded the nest tree, leading into the season start. 2-12-22. Bonnie laid her egg (one egg this season) 2-21-22. First intruders/raccoons in the nest tree, Bonnie dive bombs. 3-2-22. Bonnie strikes raccoon intruder in the nest preparing to eat her egg. 3-3-22. Bonnie strikes a raccoon intruder in the nest tree, 2X. 3-4-22. Bonnie dives on intruder (not seen, presumed raccoon). 3-8-22. Bonnie defends against raccoon. 3-9-22. Bonnie vigorously preens/scratches/bites at feet; leaves egg unprotected for 3+ hours. 3-9/3-10-22. Bonnie leaves her egg unprotected 7+ hours, returns and resumes incubation. 3-10-22. Bonnie abandons her egg. 3-13-22. Raccoon eats the egg. 2022 Off-season - From 7-6-22 through 12-31-22, while the cam remained streaming, the owls (one or both), visited the nest tree 86+ times in cam view. I missed recording additional visits during the 2022 off season. Clyde delivered food gifts on 8-21-22 and 9-11-22. 2023 Season - Bonnie & Clyde visited the nest/nest tree 50+ times in cam view during January 2023. 1-31-23. Bonnie lays egg #1. 2-3-23. Bonnie lays egg #2. 3-6-23. Egg #1 hatches; first observation/first feeding for Butch Cassidy, Day 34. 3-8-23. Egg #2 hatches; first observation of Sundance Kid, Day 33. 4-16-23. Butch Cassidy branches at 41 days old. 4-17-23. Sundance Kid branches at 40 days old. 4-30-23. Butch Cassidy fledges, 55 days old (believed date, not observed). Fledge date for Sundance Kid is unknown. 8-5-23. Strong thunderstorm hits, winds of 70-80 MPH. 8-11-23. Farmer Derek locates one of the juvies, deceased near the nest tree. 2024 Season - 2-6-24 20:40. Bonnie lays egg #1. 2-10-24 03:52. Bonnie lays egg #2. 3-11-24 06:40. Owlet #1 hatched (pip on day 32, first seen on day 34). 3-13-24 07:06. Owlet #2 hatched (pip not seen, hatched on day 32). 3-19-24 Owlets name: #1 Annie Oakley, #2 Wyatt Earp 4-20-24 Both owlets branched (Wyatt 1515, Annie 1907) 5-8-24 Both fledged (assumed based on behavior) 9-11-24 One of the juvies last seen 9-14-24 One of the juvies last heard
