Le python tapis cotier phase « caramel » Morelia spilota mcdowelli, une beauté australienne !

Hey herpers! Many of you have asked us for videos about pythons of the genus Morelia, and Morelia spilota in particular. Here I present a magnificent specimen born in 2018: a coastal carpet python, Morelia spilota mcdowelli, in its "caramel" morph. I'll also take this opportunity to talk about the history of carpet python subspecies in captivity in Europe. It's true that there have been many changes in taxonomy since the 1980s, and it's not always easy to correctly identify the subspecies, especially since some, like M.s.mcdowelli, are very polymorphic, meaning that specimens can have very variable colors and patterns, even within the same litter or locality. I'll also share some anecdotes about the origin of the "caramel" morph, which originated in France and is now found throughout Europe and the USA.
