Fixing Up a Custom Hydrostatic Go-Kart Built 12 Years Ago!

Can we get this custom, 12-year-old hydrostatic go-kart running again? 🛠️ In this video, my buddy Aiden and I are fixing up a DIY go-kart that I built over a decade ago out of oil field scrap metal, an old Tecumseh motor, and a trash can for a hood! This isn't your average homemade go-kart build. Instead of a chain drive, it runs on a unique hydrostatic drivetrain system utilizing a tiny hydraulic pump, a hydraulic motor, and an old fire extinguisher repurposed as the hydraulic fluid reservoir. After being passed around from kid to kid for years, it’s back in the shop and needs some serious TLC. In this episode, we diagnose the issues and start the restoration process: • Assessing the wobbly wheels and sheared wheel studs • Explaining the DIY oil field steering system (made from stud bolts and API rings) • Breaking down how the hydraulic bypass valve and reservoir routing works • Fixing the poorly aligned Lovejoy coupler between the gas engine and hydraulic pump • Prepping the old Tecumseh motor for its first start in years If you love custom DIY fabrication, scrap metal builds, and unique engine projects, make sure to hit that subscribe button! #GoKart #DIYGoKart #Hydrostatic #Restoration #ScrapMetalBuild #SmallEngineRepair #
