‘HOUSING IS AN EMERGENCY!’ Simon Harris challenged as eviction row erupts in Dáil
Simon Harris was challenged in the Dáil during Leaders’ Questions as Ireland’s housing crisis, rising rents, homelessness and calls for a no-fault eviction ban dominated a tense exchange. The Tánaiste faced pressure over child homelessness, evictions and whether the Government will take emergency action before the summer recess. The debate also turned to derelict homes, local authorities and the Government’s wider housing response as Harris defended his record and insisted action is being taken. The exchange comes as housing remains one of the biggest political issues in Ireland, with opposition parties pushing for stronger renter protections and urgent measures to reduce homelessness.
