The was the worst day of our RV life [Schoodic Peninsula] ⚠️ RV Life in Maine 🌊

We didn't expect this on the Schoodic Peninsula~The was the worst day of our RV life!! East Bound Adventures of Mom, Dad, Girl, and a Little White Dog Day 11: From Mount Desert Island to the Schoodic Peninsula After having so much fun with the metal rungs yesterday, we decided we wanted to try out the Precipice Trail. Unfortunately, we woke to rain drops on the window. 🌧😔🌧 When Alexis woke up and saw the rain, she began to cry. Although I don’t enjoy seeing her cry, it’s nice to know that she’s so excited to hike and climb that the disappointment of not enjoying the outdoors breaks her heart. 💔 Time to finish packing up and head over to the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park! We’ve heard it’s quite peaceful over there. We make a quick stop at the Visitor Center so Alexis can become an official Acadia National Park Junior Ranger! Although Acadia is quite dog friendly, they don’t offer a Bark Ranger Program. On our way out, I start feeling a little bummed that we didn’t get a lobster from the place that actually sparked this trip - the remembrance of the Trenton Bridge lobster that we had 17 years ago on our trip out to Maine. We tried one night, but it was so packed that there wasn’t even any parking. Jason must have felt my vibes and said we should try to stop at Trenton on our way out. There not a lot of room for parking, much less for an Airstream, but with🤞🏼 and prayers 🙏🏼sent , we are hopeful! Sure enough - Jason finds a little edge to park the Airstream and I go order my last lobster 🦞 of our trip. I decide to Go Big for the final meal and order a 2 1/2 pounder! They cook in saltwater here and it definitely adds flavor to the lobster! Lobster on the road- a first for us! The melted butter spills as we drive across the bumpy road. I try to feed Jason a few morsels without dripping butter on his chin. 🤣 Just a short drive today. Although Schoodic Woods Campground is just across the Mount Desert Narrows from the Blackwoods Campground, it takes about 1 1/2 hours to drive off the island and over to the peninsula. As we enter the peninsula, a deep fog rolls in…. It’s quite eerie how quiet it is on the Schoodic Peninsula….. I imagine Stephen King writing a spooky novel while staying on this misty, mysterious, spine-chillling peninsula…. The Schoodic Woods campground is extremely nice! Spacious campsites with lots of surrounding trees along with a quiet ambiance. You almost feel as if you should whisper… We drive the short scenic drive, but there is so much fog that nothing is very visible. At least we can see the road in front of us! 😜 Back at the campsite, God sends us a surprise- a glorious sunset!! The sky was full of orange and pink! This was very unexpected given the fact that we were literally in the clouds moments before. Thank you, God, for always sending little “I LOVE YOU”s all along the way. 🥰❤️✝️💕 East Bound Adventures of Mom, Dad, Girl, and a Little White Dog Day 12: We got kicked out of Acadia National Park. 😳😩😜 We’ll, not actually, but kind of….. We have stayed at 16 National Parks, sometimes multiple campgrounds at the National Parks, mostly in campsites that are for 25 foot campers. Our airstream body measures 24 feet , but when you add in the hitch it’s 27. The other National Parks have all okayed our camper as compatible, (including the other Acadia National Park campgrounds), but Schoodic Woods was quite particular about our total length being 25 feet. Even after I explained that most “25 foot” campers are not actually 25 feet, but that they measure longer. They were quite adamant that we had to move even though you could fit four campers on our large site. The Rangers mentioned that had to send lots of people away that had reserved these sights but measured more than 25 feet. No wonder there were so many open campsites. This whole situation just added to the eeriness of the foggy Schoodic Peninsula. Like maybe we were witnessing a strange Ranger Cult. I almost didn’t want to document today as I’d really rather forget it, but it is part of our journey and they aren’t all going to be happy moments. Such an odd experience. Quite stressful too. And I’m not one that stresses easy. But luckily our next campground had availability so we were able to move on sooner than expected, and their warm hospitality helped relieve my anxiety.
