The Collapse of Sam Houston Football...

As last season came to a close, Sam Houston looked like they were a program on the rise. They won an FCS national title in 2020, improved from 3-9 as in their inaugural FBS season to 10-3 in 2024, and were on the verge of playing in the Conference USA title game. Under Head Coach KC Keeler, they went 97-39. Then, Keeler would shock everyone by taking the Temple head coaching job, leaving a lot of question marks around the team. The man who was chosen to replace him would be former Sam Houston offensive coordinator Phil Longo.
