Our First Time RV Boondocking was near an Indian Battel Ground and Trading Post Location

We Almost Canceled This Trip… Then It Became One of Our Most Memorable Adventures! Sometimes the trips you almost don’t take end up being the ones you’ll never forget. Join us as we go boondocking for the very first time at an incredible Hipcamp property near Ashland, Oregon, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, rich history, and more adventure than we bargained for. Our campsite sits on the historic Lindsay family homestead, closely connected to the Applegate story of Southern Oregon. The property owner shares fascinating stories passed down through generations as he takes us through his remarkable 230-year-old barn, where preserved signatures from visitors dating back to the 1800s can still be seen on one of the original support posts. We also learn about the area’s Native American history, including distant burial mounds where tribes laid their warriors to rest after battles fought over control of important trading routes. Even today, Native American tribes occasionally return to this sacred place to hold ceremonies, and the land continues to be honored—including hosting a wedding in recent years. With beautiful views of Mount Ashland, a peaceful lake, and wide-open country, the setting is nothing short of spectacular. Of course… this is a North By Northwest RV Adventures trip, so things don’t go exactly as planned! During the trip we managed to damage our fifth wheel twice—including one scrape that left permanent damage after an encounter with a tree. Even getting out of the property became an adventure. Despite the mishaps, we’re incredibly thankful we decided not to cancel this trip at the last minute. The history, scenery, and unforgettable experiences made it one of the most rewarding camping adventures we’ve had.
