Trilobites belong to the Trilobitomorpha subphylum of the Arthropoda phylum of invertebrate animals. Trilobites dominated the marine realm in the Paleozoic Era. In this video, I cover trilobite morphology (their segmentation and key features on their cephalon, thorax, & pygidium, such as their glabella, furrows, spines, facial sutures, eyes or lack of eyes, cephalic brim, axial lobe, axial rings, occipital ring, number of thoracic segments, etc.), classification (the 12 orders of trilobites and their distinctive characteristics: Agnostida, Redlichiida, Corynexochida, Ptychopariida, Odontopleurida, Lichida, Phacopida, Proetida, Asaphida, Trinucleida, Harpida, Illaenida), ecology, and evolution (about the time range of each order and when the different types of trilobites dominated and subsequently went extinct).
