Along the Fischbach Valley | Following the Hunter’s Trail Through a Living Forest

Early July brings pleasant temperatures of around 20°C (68°F), overcast skies, and perfect weather for a peaceful hike. Today’s walk follows the beautiful Fischbach Valley along natural meadows and gentle floodplains on easy forest roads. At the end of the valley, we leave the wider paths behind and return on narrow woodland trails that seem to follow the footsteps of hunters. Halfway up the hillside, the path winds through a vibrant forest, offering lovely views into the valley on one side and toward the wooded ridge on the other. The birds are quieter today, but the wind fills the forest with life. Leaves rustle overhead, branches sway gently, and every step is accompanied by the soothing sounds of nature. Wildlife remained hidden for most of the journey. I could hear animals moving through the forest, and only a few tiny mice briefly appeared along the trail—too quickly to be captured on camera. But that’s perfectly fine… after all, we’re hikers, not hunters. Take a deep breath, slow down, and enjoy this peaceful summer walk through one of Bavaria’s beautiful forests.
