At the edge of the Colorado Plateau, West Clear Creek cuts a 30 mile long canyon through the Coconino Sandstone and adjacent units as it descends 3500' in elevation towards the Verde River. We suspect the uncalibrated gage is reading too high - the reported 500 dropping to 250 cfs we had during this 3 day trip felt like half of that range.
