Here are some easy fixes for when the ice just stops. You can do these Yourself with minimal digging around. This Whirlpool refrigerator has the ice make located in the upper left corner. Push the button in the upper right corner of the ice compartment and pull out the ice tray. The area inside the ice maker and the freezer has to maintain a temperature of 10 degrees or lower in order to make ice. Temperature can be measured by placing a thermometer in the ice tray for a couple of minutes. Another thing to look at is the metal arm inside the ice maker. Which position is it in? Is it stuck? If these solutions do not work for you then we recommend calling a professional as at this point the diagnoses goes into the mechanical parts. Fixing the refrigerator and ice maker yourself is cheaper but it could cause further damage to the appliance and break the warranty, racking up the bill in the long run.
