Arthur Farwell: Piano Quintet in E Minor, Op. 103
Arthur Farwell (1872-1952): Piano Quintet in E Minor, Op. 103 American composer Arthur Farwell, best remembered and growing in popularty today for his music on Indian themes, wrote this Piano Quintet in E Minor in 1938, and he later stated that the work was "inspired by his early visits to the West." Why this work has remained forgotten is beyond me. The company that released it, according to one writer, even denied that they had issued the work or that the recording was even in their collection, although it was presented in bold type in their catalog at that time! Well, here it is, a rare lp recording from the 1970's with these performers: R. Erickson and Celia Rosenberger-violins; E. Kissling-viola; W. Warkentin-Cello; and Aileen James - piano.
