Irving Fine: Symphony 1962

Irving Fine (1914-1962): Symphony 1962 Charles Munch conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra Irving Fine's Symphony was his major opus and sadly it was also his last full orchestral work, completed not long before his death at 47 from heart trouble. Commissioned by Charles Munch for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the premier was conducted by Fine himself because Munch had taken ill. This later performance was conducted by Munch and is dated March 27, 1962, as can be found in the symphony notes of that date.
