Drum Tricks with Allison Miller: Four Plus One
We were lucky enough to get Allison Miller into the Reverb studio once more, this time to discuss a technique that Allison calls "4+1". Essentially, Allison begins with a five note cluster (paradiddle plus 1) and then layers it on top of a 4-on-the-floor beat. Allison then goes on to show some unique ways to apply this technique and spice up any fill or rhythmic idea. She even goes so far as to apply the concept to a 6/8 cuban beat, demonstrating how versatile and applicable this technique can be.
