How Much Practice Do Students Need in Math Class?
7th grade math teacher Dylan Kane presents about how he approaches math practice with his students. You teach a math skill. Students practice. Class feels good! It seems like students have learned something. Then, the next day, it's as if students haven't learned anything at all. Yesterday's learning is forgotten, but the curriculum keeps moving forward. In this session, Dylan shares an approach to math practice designed to improve retention, as well as research on long-term memory to help teachers understand why some types of practice are more effective than others.
