VLT users in Fortaleza face a daily dilemma: speed or comfort. Despite reducing travel times from up to two hours in traffic to about 35 minutes, the system has become synonymous with overcrowding during peak hours. The team followed the route between Antônio Sales, Papicu, and Parangaba stations, some of the system's main boarding points. In the early morning hours, hundreds of passengers crowd the platforms. Many are workers and students who see the VLT as a faster and more economical alternative, but one that doesn't always guarantee the minimum level of comfort. According to Metrofor, between 14,000 and 15,000 people use the VLT every day, despite its maximum capacity of 750 passengers per train. The result is scenes of jostling, crowded cars, and people standing or even sitting on the floor.
