Salvador's VLT (Light Rail Transit) is close to entering operation. Testing is expected to begin in December, with experimental service expected to begin in the first half of 2026. The first section, connecting the Salvador Nautical Terminal to São João Island, is 40% complete and has over 2,000 workers involved. The investment of over R$5 billion is expected to provide the population with fast, safe, and comfortable transportation. Furthermore, the VLT project goes beyond urban mobility, including investments in macro-drainage and slopes. The VLT is expected to carry approximately 100,000 passengers per day and be an efficient transportation option for the population of Salvador.
