NECI June Webinar: The CoCoRaHS Network

Description This presentation will introduce you to CoCoRaHS (pronounced coco-razs), the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow network, consisting of over 28,000 active observers who measure precipitation daily at their locations. Citizen Science at its best! Henry will provide a brief overview of the network, review some current observation examples, show how these observations can be a valuable source of information for NCEI, and explain how ordinary citizens can participate. Presenter: Henry Reges will begins 22nd year as the national coordinator of CoCoRaHS this fall. He oversees many aspects of the program, from working with coordinators and conducting Webinars to annual fundraising, artistic design and many other tasks. A graduate of NC State and UNC Asheville, he has previously worked in Fire Weather in Alaska, at the National Climatic Data Center, and with the American Meteorological Society. He became interested in weather at a young age when lightning struck his house on Long Island in NY. He currently lives with his wife in Fort Collins, Colorado, and enjoys sports, photography, travel, gardening, and puns. By the way, he loves his job!
