The Hidden Canal Beneath This Sheffield Road

Once a vital part of Sheffield’s transport infrastructure, this short but important branch carried coal and goods during the city’s industrial peak—before being gradually cut off, abandoned, and ultimately erased. Today, thousands of people unknowingly drive along its route every day. Together, we explore what remains, reveal the hidden clues still visible in the landscape, and piece together the story of how this historic canal vanished.
