Route 66 Road Trip: Missouri to Oklahoma (Part 2 of 4)

We're back on the road. Route 66 turns 100 this year, and we're driving every mile of it, Chicago to Santa Monica, eight states, one road. This is Part 2: Missouri to Oklahoma. We start right where Route 66 got its name back in 1926, then head southwest through the Ozarks, past a gas station that's older than the highway itself, and into Oklahoma, where a 30-foot silver spaceman is standing watch over the road in Weatherford. Somewhere in between we found a haunted gas station, a Muffler Man holding a hot dog, an actual bridge from The Grapes of Wrath, and a diner where Pixar found the inspiration for Sally from Cars.
