Listening to Light | Mixed Media Painting on Deep Canvas (No Frame Needed)
In this video, I’m sharing the process of creating a 20 x 20 cm mixed media painting on a deep canvas. I love working on deep canvases and always paint the sides to match the front. That way, the painting can be hung without a frame — which is my preferred way. Frames for acrylic or oil paintings often feel a bit old-fashioned to me (but that’s just personal taste 😉). As always, I didn’t stop at acrylic paints. The piece begins with collage elements before I start building layers of paint. Toward the end, I added marks with Nero oil-based charcoal and Neopastels to deepen the contrast and bring movement into the surface. I also used handmade stencils — including one based on a sketch from my 100 Day Project in 2023. Yes, totally legal to turn your own sketches into stencils 😉 Drawing and painting are different skills. A stencil is simply a tool — not a shortcut. If you enjoy thoughtful mixed media processes, you’re very welcome here. #mixed media painting, #deep canvas painting #small canvas art#stencil in painting, 💡 Support My Channel Want to help me create more content?
