Frosty walk along the River Medway. Allington and Aylesford.
There is nothing like a cold, crisp & frosty walk to clear the head and re-energise yourself. I take a wonder along the River Medway towpath between Allington and Aylesford and stop to have a cheeky hot chocolate along the way. This was the first real frosty morning we’ve had in the south east of England this year and we’re approaching the end of November. It’s that lovely time where the trees still have there brightly coloured and autumnal leaves and winter is nipping at the ground. This was a lovely 5 mile walk, mostly along the tow path and broadly following the Medway valley path. However, there is a slight diversion on the way to Aylesford as there was a land slip a few years back and the route in blocked. Not sure when the council is going to sort that out. I always find a cold walk re-energises me; maybe it’s something to do with the temperature?! I used my alcohol stove to make a hot chocolate (Wispa), which was needed. I was also wearing my running clothing today, instead of my usual ‘walking’ gear and to be fair I think I was actually warmer. The technical clothing, when layered, is very good at keeping you warm and dry - I put my pull-over on for added warmth but it wasn’t needed. I also had my trail runners on - I’m giving up with boots! I am truly thankful for all of the likes and comments. It really means a lot to me that people are interacting with the content that I make. I am having great fun filming, editing and uploading my outdoor adventures on YouTube. I'm still learning but if I can inspire just one person to get outside more then I will be very happy.
