L’Oliveto Superintensivo “Made in Italy”: la gestione del Leccio del Corno
The Superintensive Olive Grove "Made in Italy": Management of the Leccio del Corno In the modern olive growing landscape, the superintensive model is evolving to accommodate native Italian varieties. A concrete example of this technique is the cultivation of the Leccio del Corno variety in a young orchard, observed approximately 15 months after transplanting. Here are the key elements that characterize the structure and agronomic management of this system: Plant Architecture To support the vertical and dense growth of the trees, a solid structure composed of end posts, intermediate posts, and anchors is required. The support system is based on two lines of wires parallel to the ground: the first wire is positioned at a height of 90-100 cm; the second wire is 190 cm from the ground. Growth and Size Thanks to the use of fertigation, the trees show rapid and vigorous growth. Despite their young age (15 months), the average height of the olive trees is already between 140 and 150 cm, with the apical tips reaching and sometimes exceeding 160 cm. Pruning and Trunk Cleaning Managing the single-axis training system requires precise interventions in the lower part of the tree. The trunk is completely cleared of suckers and lateral branches up to a height of 50–55 cm. Above this height, however, the lateral branches are left untouched, allowing the vegetation to develop freely. Tutoring Technique To ensure that the central axis grows straight, a cane is used as a support and constant tying is performed. The trunk is secured to the support approximately every 20 cm; this operation must be repeated regularly as the tree grows beyond two meters in height, accompanying its development towards the second wire. ______________ Imagine caring for this olive grove like applying braces: just as braces guide teeth into the correct position through small, constant adjustments, the ties every 20 centimeters "train" the olive tree's axis (single-axis) to grow perfectly straight and vertical, preventing deviations that would compromise the tree's future structure. ______________ Keywords #SuperintensiveOliveGrove #LeccioDelCorno #ModernOliveGrowing #Single-axis #InnovativeAgriculture #OliveGrovePruning #Fertigation #IntensiveSystems #AgronomistVitoVitelli Start by Roa Music | / roa_music1031music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.comCreative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported Licensehttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/...
