Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on launched a sharp attack on the Centre over the delay in restoring statehood to the Union Territory, accusing it of repeatedly failing to honour its promises. Addressing party workers, on the death anniversary of Maadare meherbaan he announced the beginning of a fresh campaign for the restoration of statehood, with district-level protests scheduled on July 20 and a major protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Beginning his address on an emotional note, Omar Abdullah paid tribute to Maadare Meherbaan, saying she had witnessed every difficult phase in Jammu & Kashmir's history with patience and dignity. She has seen every situation and every hardship, yet she never lost patience. Today, as we pay homage to her, we must also adopt her way of life.
