Welcome to my personal growing review of rambling rose ‘Ethel’ -(Wichurana Rambler) bred by Turner in 1912 and Available from ‪@PeterBealesRoses‬ A fast growing easy to train and incredibly resilient rambling rose flowering for an astonishingly long period of time starting its show of flowers in June and flowering all the way through to the end of July It is very rare and unusual for me to recommend planting a climbing or rambling rose in deep shade but this particular variety planted on a north facing fencev in deep shade receiving absolutely no direct sunlight per day is flowering beautifully Ultimately reaching around 18 feet tall and around 12 feet wide it’s fast to establish and grows very quickly. It has dark emerald green high gloss faultless foliage and is one of the few nine star disease resistance ratings I have ever issued. Ideal for growing not only in shade but on a rough, poor or free draining soil this variety will stand up to it all, flowers are produced on mass in large sprays hanging gracefully from its support each spray containing between 50 and 100 individually each perfectly cupped Apple blossom pink flowers each measuring around 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter Flowers open from Apple Blossom pink buds tinged with cream and apricot to a loosely formed perfectly open flower which is perfect for pollinators They are thorns present in all parts of the growth.
