One of the most shocking moments in the Tudor period was the execution of Mary Queen of Scots. She was the cousin of Elizabeth I, but the English Queen signed her death warrant. After her head was taken from her shoulders, Mary's corpse and remains were ignored and were subjected to desecration as she remained unburied for around 6 months.
