Greetings everyone, and welcome to the new video! Today, we're having a challenging but equally enjoyable day of work in our fields in Çumra before planting sugar beets. We've rolled up our sleeves to plow the last two plots of land we have left (12 and 16 acres). But a surprise awaited us in the field; the soil had become like concrete due to the heavy machinery and baling machines! In these difficult conditions, we called upon our "guardian angel," Şefik abi, and his beastly John Deere 6115R tractor for help. In the video, I'm sharing how we tamed this hardened soil with the famous #16 four-furrow rotary plow, the fine details of the plow settings, and my first experience with a rotary plow. Sugar beets are a very sensitive crop that doesn't tolerate mistakes. We had a candid conversation with Şefik abi about why we need to apply 5-6 layers of treatment to prevent soil aeration and thoroughly break down the stalks, the differences between European and Turkish farming techniques, and how the price of diesel fuel is crippling us.
