Shin-nyo-do – The hydrangeas were beautifully in bloom from behind the main hall to treasure house.
Shin-nyo-do is located in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, about a 40-minute bus ride from Kyoto Station. Officially known as “Shinsho Gokuraku-ji”, it is a Tendai sect temple founded around the end of the 10th century. While the temple is famous as a spot for autumn foliage, hydrangeas are planted from behind the main hall up to the treasure house. In early summer, around 600 blue and pink hydrangea blooms beautifully color the grounds. (Filmed on 2026.06.06)
