Pêche à pied dans la baie du Mont Saint-Michel

We fish for brown shrimp and pink shrimp in an extraordinary environment: the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel. The day begins with a walk to reach the fishing stations, in this case the bottom of the sandy-muddy foreshore, near the hermelles clam beds. I take the opportunity to present these bioreefs, which are now protected. In the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel, the tidal range is gigantic, which implies a huge tidal swing zone. It is therefore a sporty day; it is common to travel 15 to 20 kilometers in such places. After presenting the tools of the shore fisherman (havenet, bichette, havenet en croix), shrimp fishing is explained. We fill our baskets with brown shrimp and bouquets, and we even collect clams along the way. We also catch many fish: sea bass, motelles, a weever, and a sole. I take this opportunity to explain the particularities of the sole and the Pleuronectiformes.
