She held her grandson Filip Kulesza captive for two days until police intervened. Her son, the boy's father, Witold, died in an accident, and shortly thereafter, the woman learned of the child's existence. The child was the fruit of love between Morawski and a poor woman. Their respectable family did not consent to their union. When Zofia met the child's mother, she was horrified by the conditions her grandson was living in. The mother then allegedly offered to return Filip to the accused if she paid her 20,000 złoty. She agreed. Seeking revenge for being separated from her beloved, the victim reported the attempted crime to the police. It was then that the kidnapping took place, which Zofia allegedly committed for the child's sake.
