Welcome to Kraków, Poland — and welcome to Series 12. This is not my first time in Kraków, but every time I arrive anywhere, I make sure to meet the city in the moment and share it with fresh eyes. That is what Episode 1 is all about. As always, this is the race to build the base. I am not on holiday — I live in these places — so the first mission is to transfer my routine as quickly as possible, get set up, get grounded, and begin to understand the shape of the city around me. From there, the real work begins: having a look. Episode 1 is where we start asking the first questions of the series. What is here? What feels good? What catches the eye immediately? What looks like it will matter more the deeper we go? That is why this opening chapter is so important. It is not about knowing everything already. It is about arriving properly, getting familiar with the place, and letting the city begin to reveal itself. This episode includes the Airbnb tour on arrival, the SIM card hunt, gym setup, and then a full first walk into the beating heart of Kraków: Rynek Główny, the Main Market Square, which quickly becomes the star of the series because, in many ways, all roads lead back there. Along the way we meet some of the city’s great icons, including the Town Hall Tower, St. Mary’s Basilica (Bazylika Mariacka), and the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), all wrapped into one of the most beautiful and recognisable city-centre spaces in Europe. And this is only the beginning. If anything in this first episode looks good, trust me — it only gets better. The more you get to know Kraków, the more beautiful it becomes.
