Marathon Day

A marathon of a day .... Days like this i'd sooner not experience as they're frustrating and tedious but my stubbornness eventually paid off. Aside from the AAA grade set up first thing in the morning, I spend almost 7 hours in total looking for flights for both of my falcons. It is ironic after all that driving and searching, that I find two flights in one field, the very last field I was intending to enter before calling it quits. The little tiercel Peales gave me the run around first thing and although he was close at weight, he evidently had more food remaining in his digestive tract from his meal mid afternoon the day before when I didn't fly him. I'm still trying to discover his hunting weight and it appears lower than I first suspected. I have to watch this because when the thermometer drops 20 degrees almost overnight, that weight may change. The evening flight he was a different bird and really showed promise. I still have faith that this little guy will turn into something even though he's up against tough difficult quarry at this time of year.
