As prosecutors continued presenting evidence in the preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson, the 23-year-old accused of fatally shooting conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, one of Kirk's closest friends sat quietly in the courtroom, watching expert witnesses testify. Brandon Tatum, a former police officer and conservative commentator who said he knew Kirk before he met his wife, Erika, traveled to Utah for two reasons: to support Kirk's family and to hear the evidence firsthand. "The primary reason is to support the family," Tatum said. "I love Erika Kirk. She's an incredible woman. Charlie was a really good friend of mine. I actually met Charlie before he met Erika. Satellite images shared by NASA revealed the extensive damage caused by the Cottonwood Fire that has been burning near Beaver since June 22. Using false color images, NASA's satellites show the nearly 96,000-acre burn area from the destructive Cottonwood Fire that destroyed more than 100 condos and 30 cabins at Eagle Point Ski Resort. The human-caused fire was reported at 58% containment as of July 8.
