La Quadrille Acadienne (film d'André à Toto Savoie 1978)

In his prime, the fiddler André à Toto Savoie from the tiny hamlet of Inkerman Ferry was spectacular. Unfortunately, he was only rarely recorded by a few Canadian filmmakers and never released an album of his music to the public. This film is part of the "Canada vignettes" series of short films from the 1970s. Directed by Colette Blanchard, the brilliant Acadian folklorist Laurent Comeau put it together. It features André à Toto Savoie playing two tunes for quadrille dancers in costume at the Village Historique Acadien in Caraquet. --------------- NOTE: We do not own the copy right to this recording but are presenting it via fair use as a cultural critique of Acadian music. If the copyright owner wishes us to remove this video, please email acadiefiddle at gmail. The goal with posting this video is not to profit, but to educate the public about the history of Acadian folk music, which is so little known. This film has sadly not been made available to the public by the National Film Board of Canada. This is our heritage and it should be publicly available. The Village Historique Acadien posted this on Facebook in a public post so we believe it is now something that should be shared.
