UNESCO Qualifications Passport

Meet Christelle, Boniface, and Nsimire. They are refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo now living in Uganda. They arrived with significant prior learning and skills but faced barriers to accessing education and employment because their documents were lost or unrecognized. Thanks to the UNESCO Qualifications Passport (UQP), their qualifications are now recognized. This recognition helps open doors to education, employment, and gives refugees the opportunity to contribute to their new communities. ▶️ Christelle is a trained doctor volunteering at a health center and hopes to continue her studies and practice medicine again. ▶️ Boniface has an economics degree and trains refugee youth in vocational skills and financial literacy. He hopes the UQP will help him expand his work and continue his education. ▶️ Nsimire supports her family by selling jewelry but dreams again of other opportunities, thanks to the recognition of her commerce degree. UQP helps refugees have their education and skills recognized—even without documents—unlocking their access to jobs, studies, and a better future.
