Beethoven 4th Concerto, Op.58, II. Andante con moto & III. Rondo: Vivace; Jerome Lowenthal, Piano
In this unique recording, the American pianist and teacher, Jerome Lowenthal, performs Beethoven's 4th Piano Concerto with an unnamed orchestra (because it consists of freelance players) conducted by Carl Topilow. The 1st movement features 11 different cadenzas, by Beethoven and various illustrious pianists/composers. Since this recording was published on CD, its original intention was so that one can choose which cadenza to listen to by programming the appropriate tracks. This video features the 2nd movement and the 3rd movement, with 10 different cadenzas, one after the other, together with the score. In spite of Beethoven's own instruction to make the cadenza short ("la cadenza sia corta"), some of these composers could not help but write epic cadenzas! Clara Schumann even quotes the 2nd and 1st movements, in addition to the material of the 3rd movement. 00:00 - CD Cover 00:07 - Beethoven Piano Concerto No.4, II. Andante con moto 05:04 - III.
