Mara is from Córdoba, Argentina, and lives in Barcelona, ​​Spain. She is a leading expert on Smart Cities and digital data management in urban contexts. She is a partner and research director at Ideas for Change. In her talk, she discusses the challenges we face in protecting our privacy and demanding the democratic use of data in a world where governments and corporations know more and more about us. Mara is passionate about solving social problems through applied technological innovation. She believes that scientific and technological creations can be used for the benefit of humanity and in harmony with the environment. She is a Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) researcher and technology strategist. She directs Ideas for Change, an impact agency that advises companies and cities, and co-founded SalusCoop, the first Spanish cooperative for citizen health data. She is also a project manager at Fab Lab Barcelona, ​​where she coordinates Making Sense, a European project that aims to empower citizens through the development of environmental sensors.
