In expert hands laser treatments are both effective and safe. The wavelength of light is aimed at the blood , energy is then used to seal the vessel walls. All our lasers have in built cooling tips that protect the surrounding skin, whist maximising the treatment energy to the target vessel walls. Treatments are well tolerated, with treatment times ranging from 5 minutes to 15 minutes, depending on the areas treated. Laser treatment is similar to a small rubber band flick on the skin. Treated areas are slightly red for a few hours, however makeup if desired, can be worn. Treated vessel may darken within a few hours, but fade over days. The majority of blood vessels will fade, although a few may recur, indicating a need for a second treatment or third laser treatment. As a guide- • Capillaries and veins on the nose, cheeks, chin – one to two treatments • Redness on the neck and chest- 3-5 treatments • Rosacea / flushing/ Blushing- 2-3 treatments. • Birthmarks 3-10 treatments • Red acne scars 3 sessions with Pulse Dye or V Beam laser Dr Davin Lim on treating broken capillaries, veins and redness Broken capillaries, facial veins, and redness of the neck and chest is a common problem in Brisbane, Queensland. Genetic factors play an important role, however sun exposure contributes greatly to this condition- especially around the sides of the neck and chest. Each area responds best to different methods of treatment. V beam pulse dye laser is both comfortable for the patient, and also very effective. One to two treatments are needed for the face, however, for the neck and chest area, 3-5 treatments are advisable. I often combine BBL/ IPL to target this area as well. Patients have little or no downtime with these treatments. The 755 and 1064 lasers are used for deeper vessels. I also have a diode laser at 810 with sapphire cooling to treat resistant redness.
