APTEA Protest: Education Minister Explains Delay in DIET Staff Salaries

Itanagar, June 4: Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona has responded to the Arunachal Pradesh Teacher Educators' Association's (APTEA) demand for the timely release of salaries for teaching and non-teaching staff of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) through the State Head system. The association has been carrying out a phased democratic protest under the banner "No Pay – No Work", citing recurring delays in salary disbursement and demanding a permanent mechanism to ensure regular and uninterrupted payment of salaries. Speaking to reporters, Sona said the delay in salary disbursement is not intentional but is linked to procedural and funding-related issues. He explained that 60 per cent of the salaries of DIET staff are funded by the Centre, while the remaining 40 per cent is borne by the state government.
