Just Released From Jail, Then Stole a Car From the Courthouse | FHP Pursuit

On June 12, 2026, Florida Highway Patrol attempted to stop a Ford Escape for reckless driving near Mile Marker 83 on U.S. 1 in the Florida Keys. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated away, initiating a pursuit. Earlier that day, the suspect had been released from jail following a separate fleeing-and-eluding arrest stemming from a high-speed pursuit on June 9. The stolen Ford Escape had been taken from the Plantation Key Courthouse parking lot following a vehicle burglary. The vehicle's owner was an investigator with the State Attorney's Office.
