Jakobsleiter Egerkingen Switzerland Special Path: https://s.geo.admin.ch/kkqmk42k8ls0 The Egerkingen Jacob’s Ladder is a steep, historic staircase in the Vorberg forest above Egerkingen (Canton of Solothurn). This historic structure dates back to 1904 and was built on the initiative of local teacher J.M. Rauber. It serves as the starting point for popular scenic and circular hikes in the Jura Mountains. The “Schattenhüsli” and the View The Schattenhüsli is located halfway up the climb. The covered viewing platform, which was solidly rebuilt in 2000, offers a beautiful view down into the village of Egerkingen and the Gäu region. Popular hiking route via the Jakobsleiter The Jakobsleiter can be ideally integrated into a varied loop hike: 1. Start: Village square or Egerkingen train station (approx. 450 m above sea level). 2. Ascent: Through the shady beech forest, the trail leads steeply upward via the steps of the Jakobsleiter to the Schattenhüsli. 3. Continuing on: Via the Rinderweghalde, the trail continues upward toward Höchi Flue (966 m above sea level), the highest point of the range with a fantastic panoramic view all the way to the Alps. 4. Return: The descent often leads via Schlosshöchi to the popular Blüemlismatt mountain restaurant (an ideal place to stop for refreshments) and finally back to Egerkingen via the Haselbrünneli. • Requirements: The loop hike is classified as moderately difficult. A solid level of fitness and sure-footedness are recommended for the steep staircase ascent of the Jakobsleiter.
